Update on Kittens

The kittens spent some time out this weekend, interacting with my parents and our big cats, Eli and Simon. They were a little frightened of cats three times their size, but were great with new adults. Westley is a bit more adventurous than Buttercup - he was ready to go check out the cat tower and see what other trouble he could find. Both of them are really sweet and fun.
We have come up short on any leads for potential adopters, so please put the word out. Thanks!

Buttercup and Westley in Need of Homes

Over the Fourth of July weekend, my husband answered the doorbell to find two girls dropping off 10-week-old kittens.

The good news: what a difference a few weeks can make. Buttercup and Westley are young enough that they have become social, fun cats. They both are big cuddle bunnies and like to purr, and they have shown interest in playing with cat toys.

Walter Rescue BBQ!

Join us July 24 as we celebrate summer with a BBQ for Walter Rescue! We'll be grilling and enjoying the sun, and of course you can visit with Walter. Any donations and proceeds from Walter Rescue t-shirts go toward Walter Rescue Inc., a non-profit assisting rescued dogs and cats that have emergency medical needs. The BBQ will be at noon at the Newman house in Baltimore - e-mail us at walter (at) walterrescue (dot) org for details.

More Mingo and Missy

I think Mingo will be staying in our cellar for a bit while we try to figure out a better arrangement. He and Missy are being evicted this week from my neighbor's house.

What's so sad about this situation is my neighbor loved her cats - she has framed pictures of them, and it's obvious they've been well cared for. They just got stuck in a bad situation.

Update

My neighbor passed away this morning, so Mingo and Missy must be out of the house this week. We're still looking for a new home; the cats do not need to be placed together.

Cats In Need of a Home

We're trying to help find homes for two loving cats: Missy and Mingo.

Their elderly owners fell ill and must be moved into a nursing home. They were dedicated cat owners, so both cats are up-to-date on shots and in good health. The pictures don't do them justice!

Mingo, the orange male cat, is around 8 years old, and an indoor outdoor cat. Missy, the gray and white one, is also around 8, and is mostly an indoor cat. She is very affectionate after she warms up to you - she loves being petted. Both of them appear to be adaptable and get along with other cats.

Good News

The chihuahuas have found homes! Thanks to everyone who offered to help. We are very grateful to all our Walter Rescue supporters.

Chihuahuas in Need of Homes

We're looking for homes or foster families for three chihuahuas following the unexpected death of their owner. I am calling fellow rescue groups to see where there is space. Please spread the word!

Zeus, Penny and Roxy do not need to be placed together, and all get along with cats, children, adults and other dogs. More details are below; pictures are attached. The dogs are currently living in Alabama.

Zeus: 3.5-pound chihuahua, age 8, good with cats, good with children. Does okay with other dogs (takes some warming up). Loves snuggling on a cat bed.

Molly the Pit Bull

It's been a busy month for Walter and Walter Rescue. Thanks to Meaghan and Sarah, we held a successful Valentine's Day fundraiser that featured Walter dressed up in red and pink gear (including painted toenails!).
