About Us
Walter Rescue, Inc. is an animal rescue organization founded in Baltimore, Maryland in October, 2009 by Elizabeth Leis-Newman and her husband, Justin Newman. Elizabeth and Justin found themselves rescuing animal after animal, and identified ways a new rescue organization could benefit the community. The result, Walter Rescue. While the organization was founded around Walter, the organization hopes to serve the community in a broader way: by assisting in the interim needs of rescuers, between rescue and placement with a rescue organization. Certainly, Walter Rescue will continue to handle individual animals, fostering, and adoption, but the real focus is on these emergency needs. When an animal comes "off the street," it often needs immediate care... and that care is often expensive. This is Walter Rescue's place in the world.
Walter Rescue is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable organization (tax identification number 81-3340669) under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
