Fun with Kittens
Lewis and Brooks are making progress in becoming happy, social cats. While they don’t come running to me when I walk in with food, nor do they flee under the cabinet. I am continuing to feed them on my lap while petting them so they both associate me with food. I also am considering separating them when I leave any food out, because I believe Lewis eats more than his lion’s share if given the opportunity.
We’ve had some tentative interest in the kittens, which is great news. At some point they need freedom beyond the bathroom, but I believe currently they would get beat up by our 16-pound felines. Please keep your fingers crossed.
We currently have two other kittens living on the back porch - they are a little too wild to be adoptable, so they were spayed and relocated to our porch, where they will have shelter and regular food. Justin and I feed them in the morning so that no animals will be attracted to the back porch at night. But there’s always a little leftover food and last night I got a full view of a grown possum hanging out on the porch. Is there anything grosser than a possum? It just looks like an overgrown rat to me.
