Frequently Asked Questions
Does Walter Rescue provide grants to other organizations?
Walter Rescue does not have a grant program. Walter Rescue does reimburse organizations or individuals for specific medical expenses incurred in the rescue of specific animals.
Does Walter Rescue foster animals? Can I adopt a Walter Rescue dog?
Walter Rescue may from time to time foster animals, but it is not our focus. We are happy to refer potential adopters to organizations with animals to adopt.
If I give money after seeing a specific dog on Walter Rescue's site, will it go to that specific dog's care?
When donations are identified for a specific animal, or in response to an appeal related to a specific animal, they are first made available to that animal. Only when donations exceed the cost of an animal’s care are they made available to the general fund.
If I buy a T-shirt, where does that money go?
Revenue from T-shirt sales, as well as other merchandise sales, support the general operations of Walter Rescue.
What about cats? Does Walter Rescue find and fix feline friends?

Is Walter Rescue a 501(c)3?
Walter Rescue, Inc. is organized in Maryland as a non-profit organization. As of February 2010, Walter Rescue has not yet obtained a determination letter from the IRS. As a result, donations cannot be guaranteed to be deductible. Assuming the IRS does issue an affirmative determination letter, donations are generally retroactively deductible. Donors should, of course, consult a competent tax advisor for more information.
