Meet Carl!
Hi Walter Rescue fans! Meaghan (Walter’s mom) here to introduce you to Walter’s new foster brother, Carl. Carl is having a great time pestering his foster brothers, Walter and Chase, but what he really needs is a forever home.
Carl had 24 hours before being euthanized at my local animal control for no reason other than overcrowding. We pulled him out of the shelter in the nick of time and brought him home. He has had a tough life so far, but you would never guess because he is the sweetest dog.
Carl is a white and brindle, 1.7-year-old pit bull mix. Carl loves humans. He follows me around all day, even keeping guard outside the bathroom door while I shower. He loves to snuggle and has even taken over Walter’s spot in the bed. Carl also gets along great with other dogs. He loves to play and snuggle with his foster brothers. Carl does get anxious when meeting new dogs on the leash, but with a confident owner he will be able to overcome that. He really just wants to play all the time!
Like many pit bulls, Carl has loads and loads of energy. We have taken him on many hikes and he has gone running with me several times. Carl would do best in a home with a big backyard or with someone who can take him for long walks or runs daily. I am pretty sure Carl had never been around other dogs or on a leash before he came to live at Casa de Walter. We have been working with him, but he will need someone who is willing to teach him how to walk properly on the leash. He is very, very eager to please, so this won’t be a difficult task.
Carl would also love to go to a home with another dog, as he does have some separation anxiety and having a canine friend in the house seems to help. Carl’s separation issues are understandable, as poor Carl has been abandoned by humans his whole life. First, he was given up by his owner and then his second owner was arrested, which led to Carl’s time at animal control.
Carl is microchipped, neutered, and vaccinated. He is en-route to being crate trained. He is housebroken, great with other dogs and humans. He has not been tested around kids, but because of his energy he would probably do best in a home with older children. He has also not been tested around cats.
