Walter's Recovery

October 24, 2009

One way to make a pit bull look a lot less scary is to put an an inflatable blue pillow around his neck. The donut, which looks a little like a life preserver, is slightly more comfortable for Walter, as he would get the lip of the collar caught on the stairs, bed, couch or whatever else was in his way. We are letting him out of it occasionally, as you can see here, but he will basically wear it until his stitches are removed.

Despite his surgery, Walter has been remarkably perkier - we think it’s because the broken tooth was removed. He showed interest in a bone for the first time yesterday! The only tough part of this surgery is that he’s having a hard time getting comfortable at night to sleep, which means we’ve had lots of tossing and turning on everyone’s part.

We’re hoping that National Pit Bull Awareness Day, which is today, encourages people to look into adopting dogs like Walter. We know it may take some time to find him the right fit (no cats, preferably older kids) but he has lots of love to give.

If interested, send us an e-mail to (walter)@(walterrescue.org). (No parenthesis).
