Kittens and Play
This evening I got Lewis to a) chase a feather toy b) show interest in a ball and c) rub up against me when I went to pet him. And I can hear him chasing the ball in the bathroom. This is excellent progress and I am very optimistic about him growing up and being a super cat.
Brooks is a bit slower to catch on. She’s very cute and pretty, but definitely more reticent. I am confident that she’d curl up into a ball and never engage with anyone if she was in a shelter. I am hoping that she’ll get over her shyness in time. Both kittens continue to be good about being manhandled and eat on my lap during meal time.
The kittens progress was encouraging given a rough 24 hours that has involved fleas. Let me assure potential kitten adopters that everything in our house has been laundered, vacuumed and the kittens, Minou, Simon and Eli have been deloused with everything in our vet’s arsenal. That said, my love of animals has not, does not and will never include fleas. Or ants. Or cockroaches. But I just watched Simon and Eli stalk some sort of flying bug with gusto, and then Simon ate it, which I am going to take as a sign that any insects have been put on notice.
