A Second Adoption for Walter Rescue
Well, it’s official - a wonderful lady named Brianne adopted Lewis on Saturday and so far, so good. Lewis and Brianne seemed to hit it off immediately when they were introduced at Coco & Buff Hair Salon, courtesy of cat matchmaker Richard Hall. We’re confident that Lewis is adjusting to his new home, where he has an owner’s undivided attention and doesn’t have to be scared of other cats!
Meanwhile, I checked in with the Maryland SPCA and Meaghan the dog has been adopted. Yay! She was due to be spayed last week and then put out for adoption, so she clearly got snatched up by a new owner pretty quickly. I am so glad - she was a sweetheart and definitely did not deserve a life on the streets. I am confident that giving her the name Meaghan is what brought her luck.
While there are lots of good animal shelters out there, the Maryland SPCA is what has made the most difference for us and Walter Rescue. Their spay/neuter clinic has allowed us to trap and fix 9 feral cats in our neighborhood in the past year. They have answered questions for me about my own cats fighting and socializing kittens. And they could not have been nicer to Meaghan.
The Maryland SPCA is where we adopted Simon the cat in 2006, when he was 11 pounds. This is a recent picture, but is more flattering to his current physique. And yes, he’s wearing a bow tie. I occasionally dress my cats in costume. Don’t judge.
All is which to say, the Maryland SPCA does good work, and if you are out shopping for your pets anyway, why not pick up some toys for the Presents for Pets drive?
